Rolex has thoroughly redesigned and relaunched the Oyster Professional Air King watch with a new model known as the Reference 126900.
While the watch is now slightly slimmer, the crown guards that were added to the new reference 126900 make the watch much more robust.
The previous Air-King reference 116900 had a dial that featured no chromalight lume at 9, 6 and 3, but the new Air-King reference 126900 is now equipped with chromalight lume in those Arabic numerals. Furthermore, the 5-minute numeral now appears more balanced after Rolex decided to add a zero to the left of the number five. Now all minute markers show double digits.
On the wrist, the new Rolex Air-King ref. 126900 wears slightly bigger than its actual size because the watch is slightly slimmer than its predecessor.
Inside the Air King watch is one of Rolex’s more modern automatic movements: the caliber 3230, which exists in other three-hand no-date sports watches such as the Submariner (the no-date version). This “Superlative Chronometer” movement is COSC- and Rolex Chronometer-certified and is accurate to +/-2 seconds per day (that’s pretty good). The movement operates at 4Hz and has a power reserve of 70 hours while making use of a Parachrom hairspring that is more or less impervious to magnetism.
Then comes the new bracelet which is wider and more in line with the 40 mm case size. Additionally, the clasp was redone and now the Air-King features a folding oysterlock safety clasp with Easylink comfort extension link. a
With many added comfort features and a well maintained history this BMW R1200R sport touring bike is ready for any adventure. I ride 200 miles per week and it is ready for another 3,000 miles before any maintenance is required. Current mileage is 47,000 and climbing. The asking price for this well sorted R1200R is $7200.00
The Parabellum fairing with body matched paint and a medium height windshield is one of the best fairings I have ever had, on over fifty motorcycles. It creates a wonderful, unbuffered, quiet zone at any speed, from 30 mph to 90 mph - a superbly engineered piece of kit, being lightweight and unobtrusive. As well, high or lower windshields are available.
A Sargent low seat replaces the stock low seat and allows hundreds of miles of comfort; an air-pad/water-pad is also included for additional comfort and does add one inch of height. The stock BMW seat is included.
Zeta Bar Backs give a one inch rise and pullback, offering a more comfortable touring position. The original bar clamps are included.
Since BMW does not have cruise control I have added an Atlas Throttle Lock that allows a push of a button throttle lock/release.
The addition of "Grip Puppy Comfort Grips" hand grip covers give a more secure, larger diameter, and softer handgrip. The heated grips work great through the Grip Puppies.
Dunlop Roadsmart 4 Tires, a dual compound sport touring, long life tire. The softer outer rim gives sport bike grip in the twisties and a harder center rubber offers cruiser comfort on the highway with a longer center tread. A new set of tires will be installed at 48,000 miles.
For maintenance performed on this motorcycle please read the attached PDF below picture files. All you need to do is ride for several thousand miles before any maintenance is required.
There are many BMW R1200R's for sale; few, if any, are this well optioned and ready to travel long distance or tear through the twisties. This is a superb example of one of the most versatile and well-engineered motorcycles available.
I added a yellow headlight film which is easily removed; I like the yellow for its ability to grab attention. Due to the shape of the BMW headlight lens it is impossible to get a flat adhesion.
The one flaw on this motorcycle is the poorly designed gas strip that is notorious for failure; replacement strips never last. Hence, the gas gauge either reads full or empty - most BMW R1200R riders get gas after about 160 miles of riding.
